Al-Dar'i neighborhood

General information

Constructed in the 9th century AH, in the heart of Dumat Al-Jandal, the Al-Dar'i neighborhood is one of the most ancient and historic districts in Al-Jouf region. The historically significant neighborhood of Al-Dar'i is located adjacent to a group of farms, the Archaeological Museum, and the old Emirate Palace, surrounded by dunes and small rocky hills. It is also close to the Omar Bin Al-Khattab Mosque and includes the Marid Castle, featuring five entrances. Its southern entrance leads to the mosque, Marid Village, and market, while the eastern and western ones lead to a group of farms and residential areas. Spanning over approximately 30,000 square meters, the district comprises over 40 stone-built houses with floors ranging from 1-3, most of which are two-floor high. In addition, the neighborhood was built on the ruins of earlier civilizations dating back to the first century BC, bearing interspersed alleys connecting the buildings.
