Al-Kateb House

General information

Constructed in 1315 AH, Al-Kateb House, also named Kasr Al Nyaba at that time, is located in the Al-Salam district in Taif. The late King Faisal used to reside there during the summer. This house was built in 1315 AH by Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed, the special clerk of Sharif Awn Al-Rafiq. The surrounding area of this palatial building features a blocked street and a courtyard from the east, Imam Al-Shafi’i Street from the west, Abi Nawas Street from the north, and Al-Salama Street from the south. This magnificent building was influenced by Roman architecture, which was a common architectural style in the Arab world. The house spans over 762 square meters situated in an overall land area of 7,972 square meters. It features a primary entrance leading to a vast council room, with splendid stone and marble stairs on both sides, besides another council room on the northern side and an expansive courtyard with an orchard of fruits and vegetables.
