Historical Palace of the Emirate

General information The Historical Palace of the Emirate, one of the most famous heritage landmarks in the region, is located in the heart of the old city of Najran, in Aba Al-Saud historic neighborhood. This architectural masterpiece spanning over an area of 625 square meters was made distinguished by its design mimicking the well-known military castles in the central regions of the Kingdom, in contrast to the multi-story buildings known in Najran. In 1363 AH, the palace was built following the order of Turki bin Mohammed Al Madi to house the emirate and provide accommodation for the provincial governor, his family and guards. The palatial building has thick, high outer walls, with four circular towers on each corner. It consists of 60 rooms and features a mosque, a well, and a courtyard overlooked by the first and second floors. The first floor has the emirate's headquarters, the Prince's private majlis, rooms to receive guests, and accommodation for companions. The palace remained the headquarters of the emirate until 1378 AH.
